Klondike Solitaire: how a round works
Try Klondike Solitaire at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.
One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.
Practice with a purpose
Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Make the next step deliberately.
What the game asks you to do
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Read that aim before choosing your first action. The example below illustrates a decision.
The steps to play
- Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Your inputs
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.
A useful example
A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Read the matching step again.
A mistake to avoid
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
